Tools to post Trial Reels automatically: 2026 comparison
Since December 2025 Instagram lets third-party tools publish Trial Reels, and today many of them say they «support» them. We read each tool's official help to see what it really does: which ones post a Trial Reel and which ones only remind you to do it yourself, which ones schedule them and which part of the work is still yours.
Short answer
According to their own help pages, Metricool, Publer, Buffer, Planoly, Zoho Social, Sprout Social, Vista Social and Repurpose.io, among others, really post Trial Reels, and the Instagram app itself now lets you schedule them. All of them post the video you choose, when you say. TrialPilot also picks your best reels, prepares new versions, posts them every day, measures each one and retires the ones that burn out. You can use both at the same time.
Which tools post Trial Reels (and which don't say)
The first thing is to separate the tools that post the reel as a Trial Reel from the ones that only send a reminder to your phone so you post it yourself. This is what each tool's official help says, checked on November 5, 2026:
| Tool | Posts as a Trial Reel? | Scheduling? | Share with everyone if it performs? | Good to know |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Instagram app | Yes | Yes, since April 2026 | Yes | By hand, one at a time |
| Metricool | Yes | Yes | Yes | The option shows even if your account doesn't have it; if Instagram hasn't enabled it for you, the post fails |
| Publer | Yes | Yes | Yes | Its help mentions accounts with at least 1,000 followers |
| Buffer | Yes | Yes | Yes | If your account doesn't have Trial Reels, the post fails |
| Planoly | Yes, with auto-post | Yes | Yes | With a reminder it isn't posted as a Trial Reel |
| Zoho Social | Yes | Yes | Yes | Accounts with more than 200 followers and Professional plans or higher |
| Sprout Social | Yes | Yes | Yes | Publishing reels requires a business profile |
| Vista Social | Yes | Yes | Yes | They can also be loaded from a spreadsheet |
| ContentStudio | Yes, according to its changelog | Not detailed | Yes | Announced in August 2026 |
| Repurpose.io | Yes, also automatically | Yes | Yes | Posts as a Trial Reel every new video you upload to another network, like TikTok or YouTube |
| Later | Says they can be scheduled | Yes | Not detailed | Doesn't make clear whether it posts them or reminds you; asks for 1,000 followers |
More tools document it, like Planable, Statusbrew or RecurPost. On the other hand, in the help of Hootsuite, SocialBee, Sendible, Agorapulse and Meta Business Suite we haven't found anything about Trial Reels as of today. If they add it, we'll update this table.
Before paying for any of them: check that the Trial option shows up for you when you create a reel in the app. Tools can only post Trial Reels if Instagram has enabled them for you, and almost all of them require a professional account. The requirements are in our Trial Reels guide.
Scheduling isn't the same as automating
All the tools in the table have something in common: they post the video you give them, when you tell them to. They're schedulers, and very good ones for organizing your calendar. But none of them documents choosing which video to post based on how it performed, or creating new versions of a video. Which video to test, how to edit it so it isn't a copy, how many to upload and what to do with the ones that don't work is still your job.
Repurpose.io is the one that comes closest to posting on its own: it takes every new video you upload to TikTok or YouTube and posts it as a Trial Reel. It works if you already create new content for another network. It doesn't reuse your reels that already worked.
Careful with recycling the same video. Several tools have features to repost the same post every so often (auto-lists, recycling, «evergreen» content). None of them says whether they work for Trial Reels, but watch out: Instagram's own help warns that a Trial Reel can have limited reach if it detects you had already shared that content.
The comparison, task by task
This is what you need to do to get the most out of Trial Reels every day, and who does it in each case:
| Task | With a scheduler | With TrialPilot |
|---|---|---|
| Choosing which videos deserve another chance | You | Automatic: the ones that beat 80% of your reels |
| Making versions Instagram doesn't see as a copy | You (editing by hand) | Automatic |
| Uploading the video and marking it as a Trial Reel | You upload it; the tool posts it | Automatic |
| Posting several a day at different times | You schedule each one | Automatic: from 1 to 10 a day, in your time window |
| Measuring every upload at 24 hours | You see the stats; you interpret them | Automatic |
| Retiring the videos that burn out | You | Automatic: it lets them rest |
| Making sure the account stays healthy | You | Automatic: stops in time and tells you |
| Feed calendar, stories, other networks | Yes, it's their strength | No: only Trial Reels |
What TrialPilot does that a scheduler doesn't
TrialPilot isn't a scheduler: it decides and prepares. Every day it:
- Picks your winning reels with data: the ones that beat 80% of your reels.
- Prepares new versions of each one, truly different, so Instagram doesn't treat them as the same video.
- Posts them as Trial Reels, from 1 to 10 a day, through Instagram's official connection and without asking for your password.
- Measures each one at 24 hours and decides which videos keep going and which rest.
- Watches your account and stops in time if Instagram slows it down.
You don't have to be there. That's how cases like an account with 8,000 followers getting 1.4 million views in a day come about, or another going from 2,044 to 7,150 followers in a week. There are more in do Trial Reels work? Real cases and the method.
Which one is right for you
A scheduler, if…
- You create new content every day and want to organize your calendar.
- You manage several networks and want to schedule them all from one place.
- You use Trial Reels now and then to test a new idea.
TrialPilot, if…
- You want to reach new people every day without creating more content, making the most of your reels that already worked.
- You don't have two or three hours a day to choose, edit, post and measure.
- You manage several accounts (an agency, for example) and can't do it by hand on all of them.
Both at the same time
They don't overlap. Many accounts use a scheduler for their feed and stories, and TrialPilot for Trial Reels. Your feed is still yours: TrialPilot only posts Trial Reels, which don't appear on your profile.
What to check in any tool
- That it doesn't ask for your Instagram password. Serious tools connect through Instagram's or Facebook's authorization screen. If they ask for your password on their own website, be wary: it's one of the fastest ways to end up with a restricted account.
- That it really posts as a Trial Reel, not that it sends you a reminder so you do it yourself.
- That it doesn't upload the same video over and over without changes: Instagram recognizes it and buries it.
- That it tells you if Instagram slows your account down. Posting with a limited account only makes things worse.
The price, in perspective
TrialPilot is available in Spanish today, at €100 a month per Instagram account, taxes included, with 5 free days on the first account. The fair comparison isn't with a scheduler, which does something else, but with the time it would take you to do it by hand: easily two or three hours a day, every day.
Frequently asked questions
Which tools can post Trial Reels?
According to their own help pages, among others: Metricool, Publer, Buffer, Planoly (with auto-post), Zoho Social, Sprout Social, Vista Social, ContentStudio and Repurpose.io. The Instagram app also lets you post them and, since April 2026, schedule them. TrialPilot also picks the videos, prepares the versions and posts them on its own every day.
Can you schedule Trial Reels?
Yes. From the Instagram app itself (Adam Mosseri announced it in April 2026) and from schedulers like Metricool, Publer, Buffer or Planoly. It only works if Instagram has enabled Trial Reels on your account.
Does Metricool post Trial Reels?
Yes. According to its help, when you create the post you choose «Trial Reel» as the content type, and you can schedule it and turn on sharing it with everyone if it performs well. If Instagram hasn't enabled the feature for you, the post fails.
How is TrialPilot different from a scheduler like Metricool or Publer?
A scheduler posts the video you give it at the time you choose. TrialPilot decides which videos to post (your best reels), prepares the versions, posts them every day as Trial Reels, measures each one and retires the ones that stop working.
Can I use TrialPilot and a scheduler at the same time?
Yes. TrialPilot only posts Trial Reels, which don't appear on your profile. You can keep running your feed and stories with your scheduler.
How much does TrialPilot cost?
€100 a month per Instagram account, taxes included, with 5 free days on the first account and no commitment. It's available in Spanish today; the English version is on its way.
